Home of OMD & OMD2Most of the content on this website is based on the free software OMD or OMD2. Both are for simulating mechanisms. Codes based on the same principles cost ten of thousands of dollars (ADAMS, LMS Virtual Lab). OMD and OMD2 certainly do not have all the features that their commercial counterparts do, but it is expandable and who knows, maybe someday it will. Further descriptions are available at the links above. Company Philosophy and ExpertiseEnlighten Engineering is a software company that believes open-source, freeware and proprietary code all have their place. We think most software companies confine themselves to the proprietary model and thereby limit their offerings. We endeavor to find the optimum outlet for the code we produce and leverage existing open-source, freeware and proprietary applications. We write standalone applications and middleware to leverage existing software, which is often open source and can produce proprietary code when the customer desires or the application warrants such an approach. We believe there is room for all sorts of software and do not want to limit our customers to proprietary code at their expense. We use the term "Enlighten" because we believe we are enlightened to the possibilities of freeware and open-source while other software companies refuse to see the light. A large price tag does not always reflect the worth of the software, and freeware often delivers huge value. We would like to show our customers the light and help them increase their capabilities by leveraging the best applications, regardless of how they are licensed. We specialize in engineering software and visualization. On this site, along with information about the company, you will find open-source and free-ware tools available for download. These tools can be modified to suite your needs resulting in proprietary code or should you allow freeware or even open-source to allow others to further modify and improve the code. You will also find links to open-source projects we can help you implement. If you find the concepts and tools on this site intriguing, let us know! |
